Each double-sided stone has the raised footprint of an animal on one side and an image of the animal on the other.
Press the footprint into sand, mud, or earth to create a trail for children to follow. Which animal can they find at the end: fox, squirrel, rabbit, deer, owl, buzzard, frog, and mouse? Once they find the animals, how can they sort them? Children can record their findings by rubbing, making impressions in sand, and discovering what else they know or can find out about each animal.
When finished, children can clean the footprints thoroughly with soap and water, ready for a new forest adventure.
