Frequently asked questions
Can the rugs also be ordered in sizes > 2 meters?
Our carpet rolls are 2 meters wide, however, it is possible to have a rug made up to 4 meters in width/diameter. For this, we cut two equal pieces, which are then assembled and provided with a second fleece backing. This provides extra stability and comfort.
Is a seam visible in the rug?
Only rugs > 2 meters are made from 2 pieces and assembled. These rugs have a seam in the middle. Due to the light, this seam is visible to varying degrees.
What kind of backing do the rugs have?
The rugs are made from our 2-meter wide carpet rolls. Rugs up to 2 meters have the normal jute backing of the rolls. Rugs > 2 meters, which are made from 2 parts, are provided with an extra textile fleece backing.
What should you pay attention to when laying a rug?
Our rugs have a jute or fleece backing depending on the size. Depending on the subfloor, we recommend using an anti-slip underlay. This will keep your rug neatly in place.
Why is the structure of my carpet sometimes a bit irregular?
For our carpet, we mainly use the long top layer of cashmere goat hair. This top layer differs in color and structure from animal to animal. The hair is hand-clipped once a year, then sorted and carefully washed. Natural fibers, the hair of the cashmere goat - due to their living environment and extreme weather conditions - can show certain irregularities. These cannot always be fully compensated during the unique production process. It can also lead to natural color variations and bumps, for example in the ribbed structure. This is part of the unmistakable character of cashmere goat hair.
Just like with linen, small, specific irregularities are typical for a real and unique Tretford carpet.
